Creativity is a process not an event.

There is a common misconception that either you are born creative or you never will be a creative person, that however, is only half the truth. The other half of that truth is that creativity can In fact be developed! Shocking, right? A person who wants to be more creative can be, mind you, it takes time. Creativity doesn’t just happen on its own, it is a process that takes time and concentration.

Did you know exercising can make you more creative? Well an experiment was conducted on a group of people, half of which, exercised beforehand and half of which did not. When they were shown a video that required them to find a solution, the former came up with more creative solutions than the latter! That however does not mean that exercising, on its own will turn someone creative, but it will definitely help.

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something.” This is what Steve Jobs said about creativity. By connecting or associating things to each other, one can become more creative, may it be real life occurrences or may it be associating a motive to a suspect in that murder mystery novel, association is extremely important when it comes to creativity.

That being said, creativity is not just something that you are born with or something that you suddenly possess when you wake up, it is a procedure that requires its own time and practice. It is not an event, it is a process.
